Parent Involvement
A SPECIAL NOTE TO OUR PARENTS
Last season was incredible in the amount of
support that you all gave to me, the other coaches, and your children.
It is important to strive for the best and remember that there is
always room for improvement!
I will again be asking for your help throughout the season.
We have such a great group of kids and we all want the same thing
– a great experience for those kids.
In order for that to occur, we need your involvement and
dedication as parents and volunteers.
At every meet, we need parents to help time, score, run, and
officiate the meets. It is
unfair to always let the same parents do the work.
Everyone wants to watch their kids swim and we can arrange
“shifts” during the meets to accommodate you.
We also understand today’s busy schedules may not allow you to
attend all the meets, but we will require you to work at least one meet.
We did run into a few unfortunate experiences last year due to a
lack of involvement and I will continue to enforce those policies this
year about this issue.
We all want to involve as many swimmers as
possible, as often as possible, in every meet.
You may remember that we occasionally had over 8 heats of events
last year. Please help us
by letting us know when your swimmer will not be able to attend a swim
meet. We understand that
you may be on vacation during the summer or your swimmer cannot attend a
swim meet at some point. If
this situation arises, it is imperative that you let the coaching staff
know in advance in writing.
There is a swim team board where meet sign ups will be posted.
I will also have a place for you to list your child’s name if
s/he cannot make a meet.
Unfortunately, meet line-ups are written and then have had to be changed
at the last minute because a swimmer has not shown up.
This is very stressful and unfair to the coaching staff as well
as the other swimmers. So
thank you in advance! Also,
every swimmer is required by league rules to compete in meets in order
to be eligible to compete in the Championships at the end of the season.
I have one additional point that needs to be made.
We had a great season last year but it was unfortunately marred
by the worst showing for our swim-a-thon.
This is the main source for team funds.
IT IS A REQUIREMENT!!!
I will have a handout for this as we near the event.
This season promises an exciting summer for
everyone involved. Please join me at the parents meeting on May 28th
at
Sincerely, Dana Puskas
